Technician Mobile Workspace
Run assigned work from the six-tab Fusion workspace with today's jobs, Schedule route, dispatch Inbox, field notes, checklists, and photo proof.
Technician Mobile Workspace
The technician workspace uses the same six destinations as the rest of the Fusion mobile app, with field-safe information:
- Home - period-aware assigned jobs, route-ready stop counts, and performance pay when enabled
- Schedule - assigned stops, truck schedule, route, and directions
- Create - only the records or field events allowed by the role
- Inbox - dispatch notes and job communication
- Phone - administrator-approved call activity and company-line tools, or a clear access-off state
- More - assigned work records, account, notifications, offline storage, and app information
Crew leads and technicians do not receive sales pipeline, commission, Red Line, or organization-pricing screens in this workspace.
The field More catalog opens My Time & Pay, Availability & Time Off, Training & Certifications, and other employee-safe destinations. It does not inherit the owner Team directory, team timecard queue, or Review Timesheet approval screen. Those management records remain owner/manager only even when a field role can use its own Time Clock or My Pay page.
The Phone tab never disappears or changes position. Crew and technician defaults do not include phone activity or company-line calling, so the tab normally explains that access is controlled by an administrator. If an owner grants View Phone Activity, the role can see only the permitted activity. Place Phone Calls is a separate permission: without it, the app omits Quick dial and callback actions and does not request a background Android voice token.
Home, Jobs, and the Daily Truck Check
Home opens with assigned work for Today. Use Week, Month, Quarter, or Year to review the same field dashboard for another period. The blue summary and job section both follow the selected period, including their headings and empty-state explanation. Tap a job name to open the job page.
The route metric is based on actual assigned stops with an address or saved coordinates. It shows the stop count, or a ready count when some assigned jobs still need a usable location. The app does not estimate or invent route miles. Cancelled jobs are excluded. Completed and invoiced jobs remain visible when their scheduled date is inside the selected period, so the field history and scheduled revenue do not disappear after completion or billing.
While dispatch data is loading, Home says that assigned work is loading rather than showing a false empty day. If the request fails without cached data, Home shows Assigned work unavailable and a Retry action.
The separate Jobs workspace includes four daily preparation checks: tank, mix, ladder, and fuel. Each check is saved on that device for the signed-in user, organization, and local calendar date. The next assigned run is shown first, followed by the remaining stops for the day.
An assigned run includes the customer, service, time window, address, access details, and dispatch notes. Tap Start run or Continue run to open the job. Tap the directions action to hand the address to Google Maps.
Tap Send ETA before traveling. On the way is the default and does not invent an arrival time. When more detail is useful, choose 15, 30, 45, or 60 minutes. Clean Estimate sends the notice by SMS and email when those contact methods are available, records the communication, and moves the job to En route.
For a larger job assigned to multiple trucks, the job page shows one run per truck plus overall completed-truck progress. Your truck's checklist, proof, start time, finish time, and notes are independent. Starting or completing your run never changes another truck's run.
Owners and managers see Trucks & crew near the top of the mobile job page. Tap Assign, select every truck working the job, choose the crew, and save. Each selected truck receives an independent run; crew and technician accounts see the saved assignment without receiving dispatch editing access.
Only jobs assigned to the signed-in user or their active crew are returned to production roles. If the device is offline, the page keeps its field shell visible and offers refresh instead of showing another organization’s cached work.
Schedule and Route
Schedule shows assigned work on a time-positioned Day or Week calendar. Open hours remain visible, both views include hour guides, and today's calendar shows a current-time line. The route includes only physical jobs and onsite appointments; call, text, and virtual follow-ups remain visible but never become travel stops.
A stop is route-ready when it has a usable full service address or saved coordinates. Each technician job card shows the full address and whether travel details can open in Maps. Missing locations are labeled clearly so dispatch can correct the property instead of the app inventing distance or drive time. The route card reports the physical-stop and ready counts and uses an honest plain-language preview when live map data is unavailable. Tap a calendar card to open its job, or use Open route to continue to Maps with every ready physical stop in schedule order.
Inbox
The production Inbox brings dispatch and crew notes into one list. A row shows the related customer and scheduled time when available. From the row you can open the job or start a call through the company phone system. The company line is the primary choice so the call stays tied to the customer and uses the business caller ID. Use device dialer instead remains an explicit outside-call option in the call sheet.
Running a Job
Open a job and work through these steps:
- Review the customer, access details, service scope, crew alerts, and notes.
- Tap Start Job when work begins.
- Work through the recommended checklist items.
- Add Before photos with Camera or Gallery when useful.
- Add After photos with Camera or Gallery when useful.
- Tap Complete Job.
Sales notes appear in an amber Read before start card above the execution controls so scope and property instructions are visible before the timer starts.
On a multi-truck job, checklist state and proof storage are additionally scoped to the selected truck run. The organization's post-job automation starts once, after the final assigned truck completes, rather than after each truck.
Owners and managers viewing the same job can open and operate its authorized truck-run execution card. Field users still see and control only the runs assigned to their user, crew, or truck.
Checklist progress is stored for that organization, user, and job. Proof photos upload directly to the job’s organization-scoped storage path. The app verifies the uploaded file type and exact byte size before accepting it; JPEG, PNG, and WebP photos can be up to 10 MB each. The same provisioned storage supports both standard job proof and proof attached to an individual truck run, and write access requires an active membership in the path's organization. The job-photos bucket is private; authorized reads receive a short-lived signed URL instead of a permanent public photo link. Long-press a thumbnail to remove a mistaken photo before the job is completed.
The checklist and before/after photos are recommended quality-control proof, but they do not block completion. If proof is incomplete, Complete Job asks the crew to confirm that they want to close the work anyway. Android reads a camera or gallery image directly from device storage instead of requesting its local file URI over the network. Gallery selection supports large multi-image sets in one pass, including jobs with 200 or more before/after photos. The app uploads three images at a time, shows completed-versus-total progress, and renders the gallery as a virtualized list so the job page stays responsive. Every image is validated separately, so one rejected file does not discard photos that were already saved. Camera capture remains one photo at a time. Completion records the finish time and starts the organization’s configured post-job automation, including review follow-up where enabled.
Completed jobs show their proof and completion state without reopening the execution controls.
Payments and Private Sales Data
Crew leads can collect against an existing linked invoice when their role and workspace permissions allow it. A worker's own My Pay entry appears only when the organization has crew performance pay enabled and that worker's active membership uses the commission pay model. Hourly workers and workers in organizations where performance pay is disabled do not see the Home card, the More shortcut, or the My Pay screen through a direct link. Technician accounts do not receive sales-representative commission, pricing-floor, or organization pipeline data.
More
More contains the signed-in account, the employee's own time/pay workspace, notification preferences, offline and storage controls, and app information. Organization, team-directory, team-timecard approval, and pricing configuration stay in the owner and manager workspace.
Troubleshooting
- No jobs listed: confirm dispatch assigned the job to your user or active
crew, then pull down to refresh.
- A stop is missing from Schedule: the job address needs valid latitude and
longitude; it can still be opened from Home or More > Jobs.
- Complete Job asks for confirmation: recommended checklist or photo proof
is missing; continue only when the work is actually finished.
- Photo upload fails: reconnect and retry, or choose the image from
Gallery. JPEG, PNG, and WebP files must be under 10 MB.
- Canvass reports Unauthorized: reopen Canvass after the saved session
refreshes. A stale queued visit no longer blocks the read-only workspace and will retry under the correct organization session.
